
No. 23 TCU Handles Baylor, 4-1, Advances to Big 12 Semifinals

Horned Frogs dominate Bears in conference tournament
ORLANDO, Fla. – On a bright and sunny Thursday afternoon, the No. 23 and third-seeded TCU women's tennis team defeated No. 6 seed Baylor, 4-1, at the USTA National Campus.
TCU (18-4, 10-3 Big 12) found momentum early and often, winning the doubles point and then securing three of the four finished singles matches. Facing resistance against a tough Baylor lineup, the Frogs did not back down and powered through to take down the Bears.
Doubles victories were earned by the pairing of Tomi Main and Cayetana Gay as well as the duo of Raquel Caballero Chica and Jennifer Jackson. Singles triumphs were posted by Jackson, Cristina Ramos Sierra and then the clinching point from Victoria Gomez O'Hayon.
This is TCU's most wins in a season since the 2015 dual season, when the Frogs posted a 19-9 overall record. With today's victory, TCU has also earned its first trip to the Big 12 Tournament Semifinals since the 2016 season.
DOUBLES RUNDOWN
For the second time this season against the Bears, TCU was able to control the doubles point and take the early lead in the match.
The duo of Gay and Main threw the first punch of the match, handling the Baylor tandem of Kennedy Gibbs and Zuzanna Kubacha, 6-2. Caballero Chica and Jackson followed up with a 6-4 showing versus Na Dong and Luna Ivkovic to grab the lead for the Frogs that would not be relinquished for the remainder of the match.
Gomez O'Hayon and Yu-Chin Tsai were up 4-3 on court one before the doubles point was clinched and the match ended.

SINGLES RUNDOWN
Depth proved beneficial once again for the Frogs, as TCU earned three singles wins from the middle of the lineup en route to clinching the match against Baylor.
Jackson, a dominant freshman for TCU this season, moved to 10-2 in dual singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 performance to get singles play started.
Baylor would soon after respond with a win on court two to put the match at a 2-1 Frog lead.
Cristina Ramos Sierra came through clutch, putting the Frogs on the verge of ending the match after defeating Mu-Jie Tzeng, 6-4, 7-5.
The Bears would make things interesting on the remaining three courts, but at the end of the day TCU inevitably ended up overpowering Baylor.
With the match set at 3-1 in favor of TCU, Gomez O'Hayon delivered the final blow to end the match, defeating Alian Zack with a reilient 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 showing. The senior has earned back-to-back wins at the No. 4 spot in singles play, adding a dangerous piece to the lineup in a crucial time of the season.
Caballero Chica and Gay were in competitive third-set battles before the match ended and TCU ended up victorious.
