Horned Frogs pass test in final nonconference matchup
FORT WORTH – In the last nonconference match of the regular season for the TCU women's tennis team, the squad posted a 4-2 win over Cal Poly in Wednesday night at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
After dropping the doubles point to the Mustangs, TCU would find a way to pick up four singles matches while only dropping one singles court to wrap up its nonconference slate and wrap up things with a 4-2 win.
Yu-Chin Tsai moved to 11-0 on the year for dual singles with her win today, and Tomi Main and Jennifer Jackson each picked up their fifth win for the year as well. Raquel Caballero Chica continued her hot streak at the No. 1 spot, as the reigning Big 12 Player of the Week grabbed a singles triumph.
In nonconference contests this regular season, TCU posted a total record of 7-1 to go along with its current 7-1 Big 12 record. The only loss on the year for the Frogs was the season-opening contest against Arizona State during ITA Kickoff weekend, a match that did not count for the conference standings.
DOUBLES RUNDOWN
TCU would find itself behind after the doubles point for the second straight match on Wednesday. The Frogs would take one court, but would then proceed to drop the next two and fail to grab the early advantage.
Victoria Gomez O'Hayon and Tsai started things off with a 6-2 showing at the top spot against Candela Aparisi and Natalie Lynch.
Cal Poly would end up taking courts two and three to win the doubles point and secure the 1-0 advantage heading into singles play.

Order of Finish: 1, 3, 2
SINGLES RUNDOWN
Just like on Sunday, the momentum shift would be created in singles and TCU was able to chip away and grind out the needed victories to inevitably secure the win over the Mustangs.
Tsai moved her season record to 11-0 after defeating Alexandre Ozerets at the No. 3 spot, 6-0, 6-2.
Main made quick work on court six, defeating Sarah MacCallum, 6-2, 6-4.
Jackson got herself back in the win column, as the freshman put TCU on the doorstep of winning the match with a 6-3, 7-6(3) showing.
The Mustangs would proceed to make things interesting, getting a win on court two as Aparisi took down Gomez O'Hayon, 7-5, 7-5 to make the score 3-2.
Sitting as the 75th-ranked singles player in the country, Caballero Chica provided clutch again at the top spot in singles, defeating Jessica MacCallum, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 to end the match and make the Frogs victorious.
No. 125 Cristina Ramos Sierra was in a gritty third-set battle as both singles players split tiebreak sets before the match concluded and the court went unfinished.
