TCU picks up its fourth straight victory with a 6-1 win over the Big Green on Wednesday.
FORT WORTH, Texas – Quick work in doubles paved the way for the TCU women's tennis team to pick up its fourth straight victory as the Horned Frogs recorded a 6-1 win over Dartmouth on Wednesday afternoon.
TCU (10-4) brought the heat to start the match as all three courts ran out to huge leads against the Big Green (3-10) in doubles. Chloe Hule and Stevie Kennedy finished first on court two with a 6-1 victory before the No. 27 pair of Ellie Douglas and Aleksa Cveticanin finished it off with a 6-1 win of their own on court one.
The momentum continued into singles as the Frogs got the opening sets on all six courts and three freshmen clinched the overall match victory. No. 112 Douglas was nearly perfect at the top spot as the freshman picked up the 6-0, 6-0 win for point No. 2 in the match. Freshman Mercedes Aristegui finished off court three in straight sets for a team-best 15th win of the season as TCU moved its lead to 3-0 over Dartmouth. Fellow classmate Addy Guevara sealed the win on court six with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Allison Chuang.
After the match was already decided, Kate Paulus and Aleksa Cveticanin got victories of their own as the duo battled to three-set wins on courts four and two, respectively.
Quotes from the Match
Head Coach Lee Taylor Walker
"We had excellent doubles matches and first sets in singles today. There was incredible focus and energy from everyone and I was really happy with that. Dartmouth did an amazing job fighting back and making it a close match. We lost some leads and ended up battling it out to get the win. We are in a great spot as we go into this final stretch of regular season. We have lots of great opponents and we are ready."
