TCU will welcome Iowa State and West Virginia for the start of a five-match home stand.
FORT WORTH, Texas – The Big 12 Conference home openers for the TCU women's tennis team will take place this weekend as the Horned Frogs host Iowa State and West Virginia at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
TCU (7-4, 1-0 Big 12) will take on the Cyclones (5-4, 1-0 Big 12) on Friday at 3 p.m., before facing the Mountaineers (8-3, 0-1 Big 12) on Sunday at 1 p.m., Admission is free for both matches and fans in attendance can enjoy free pizza courtesy of Buffalo Bros., served in between doubles and singles action.
TCU Notables
TCU opened Big 12 play on the road where the Frogs topped No. 50 Baylor, 6-1. The team is about to begin a five-match home stand this weekend and TCU is a perfect 6-0 at home this season with four wins over regional opponents.
Freshman Mercedes Aristegui continues to lead the Frogs in singles action with 13 wins on the season including eight victories in the last 10 matches played. Fellow freshman Kate Paulus is also picking up the singles wins in dual matches with Paulus boasting seven. In doubles, Aleksa Cveticanin and Ellie Douglas entered the Oracle/ITA poll at No. 41 as the duo are 5-1 on the season with one win over a ranked opponent. Chloe Hule and Stevie Kennedy are pairing up for a team best six wins with victories in two of the last three matches played.
Scouting the Cyclones
Iowa State has five wins on the season but dropped two of the last three matches played with the only win coming over Nebraska. Annabella Bonadonna has 155 overall career wins for the Cyclones and is three wins away from a tying Iowa State's all-time overall wins record. The senior is also three singles wins away from a tie for second place on the overall career singles wins list with 71 wins. Regina Espindola is tied for ninth place in overall career singles wins with 60 wins. Espindola is also nine wins away from reaching the top-5 on the overall career wins list with 124 wins.
Scouting the Mountaineers
WVU is riding a two-match winning streak into the weekend with a 7-0 sweep of Binghamton and a 5-2 victory over Marshall last weekend. The team is 0-1 in Big 12 action after dropping its conference opener to Iowa State. Anne-Sophie Courteau leads the Mountaineers with a 9-2 mark in singles action with wins in eight of the last 10 matches played. Anastasia Bovolskaia has eight wins in singles action and is undefeated on courts two and three. In doubles, Bovolskaia and Sofia Dunn pair up for a 4-2 mark, while Courteau and Abigail Rosiello are 4-1 on the season.

Friday's match will be the seventh meeting all-time between TCU and Iowa State with the Frogs holding a perfect 6-0 mark against the Cyclones in the all-time series. TCU has swept the Cyclones in the last four straight meetings and five of the six matches played. This will be only the third time the teams have played in Fort Worth with the Frogs blanking Iowa State in both meetings in 2015 and 2017.
Sunday's match will be the eighth meeting all-time between TCU and West Virginia with the Frogs holding a perfect 7-0 mark against the Mountaineers in the all-time series.
