ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - TCU totaled 17 shot attempts, but dropped a 1-0 decision to New Mexico on Saturday night at the UNM Soccer Complex.Early in the match, it appeared as if junior Jackie Torda put the Horned Frogs on the board, but her shot in the 25th minute sailed wide of the net.
Following a header by Jenna Hayes midway through the period, sophomore defender Katie Taylor just missed on a shot in the 33rd minute. Alex Mechalske, a defender from Fort Worth, blasted a shot right before the break, but the ball couldn't find the back of the net to keep the score at 0-0 going into halftime.
UNM's Jennifer Williams netted the lone goal of the match in the 47th minute off a cross from Alexis Ball.
Taylor and senior Lizzy Karoly tried to rally the Purple and White in the 65th and 67th minute, respectively, but couldn't tie the match at 1-1. In the 67th minute, Karoly connected on a shot from inside the box, but watched as her shot was saved by the Lobo defense.
In the 86th minute, Jordan Calhoun tried one last time to tie the match at 1-1, but her shot was blocked to keep the Frogs off the board.
