History made in Big 12 soccer
BRISTOL, Conn. – For the first time in conference history, soccer will be aired on ESPN2, as TCU's contest against No. 12 Texas Tech will be nationally televised on Sunday at 1 p.m.
In what was originally one of the two matches in the league to be televised on ESPNU this year, the highly anticipated showdown between the Horned Frogs and Red Raiders is set to stand alone amongst the rest of the conference.
This is the seventh match to be broadcasted on an ESPN linear network in program history, with every occurrence coming under head coach Eric Bell. Sunday marks the first time a TCU women's soccer contest will be put on ESPN2.
The two programs have been the Big 12's most successful in the past few seasons. TCU has clinched the conference's most recent spot in the NCAA College Cup and has won four of the past six Big 12 titles.
A rivalry that has been nearly deadlocked in the past four meetings with three ties is set to take part in the annual tradition under the national spotlight. The Frogs and Red Raiders have met every year since 2003, and TCU currently holds a 19-11-7 advantage in the series.
