Frogs drop match on road

PROVO, Utah – The TCU women's soccer team came up short against BYU, 2-0, on Monday night at South Field.

TCU (4-4-1, 1-2-0 Big 12) went into the half scoreless against the Cougars but were unable to put one into the back of the net during the 90 minutes of action. Emma Yolinsky and Bella Diorio led TCU with two shots apiece throughout the match.

THE RUNDOWN
TCU came out and created a couple of chances against BYU, including an early build up that led to an Emma Yolinsky shot on goal. As the game started to settle in, BYU would go on to be on the offensive, putting up numerous shots. Highlighted by a save in the eighth minute by Olivia Geller, TCU would hold off the Cougar attack and keep the match moving along.

In the 34th minute, a beautiful ball would be sent to a running Yolinsky who would score a goal, but after video review it was deemed she was barely offsides and the score was disallowed. The two teams would head into the half deadlocked at 0-0.

Coming out into the second half, the Frogs were held without a shot for the first 20 minutes of action, and then BYU would get on the scoresheet from Emma Hamberlin to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the 66th minute.

TCU would record only three shots the rest of the half, and the Cougars would strike again from outside the box in the 82nd minute to double the advantage and end the game leading 2-0.

Olivia Geller played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded one save.

MATCH NOTABLES

Goalkeeper Olivia Geller climaxed the 3000-minute mark tonight with her 90 minutes in goal. Emma Yolinsky also surpassed the 2000-minute mark as well.
Geller, Grace Coppinger and Kamdyn Fuller were the three Frogs who played all 90 minutes for TCU tonight.
Emma Yolinsky had both of TCU's shots on goal tonight.
Eres Freifeld, Camille Banks, Giovanna Costanzo, Cameron Byrd, Grace Vest, Madison Taylor and Betsi Salihi came on as substitutions.
Giovanna Costanzo recorded the second shot of her career tonight.
Camille Banks and Betsi Salihi each recorded their second career appearances.

UP NEXT
TCU will play host to Cincinnati on Friday, October 2 at 7 p.m. at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. This match will serve as the Frogs' alumni game, and the 2016 team will be recognized during the match as well.
