TCU comes up short in Sunday clash

FORT WORTH – In a clash between two conference rivals, the TCU women's soccer team fell to 12th-ranked Texas Tech, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Garvey Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.

The Horned Frogs (5-6-1, 2-4 Big 12), put together numerous chances in the attacking third and played a competitive match against the No. 12 Red Raiders, but a goal early on in the second half made the difference in the score sheet.

THE RUNDOWN
Despite losing the shot battle 8-3 in the first half, TCU put together a plethora of well-rounded build ups during the first 45 minutes of action. At the end of the first half, TCU led the corner total 5-2 and was seemingly knocking on the doorstep.

A couple of standout defensive plays were made by the Frogs, highlighted by a kicking goal line clearance from Hannah Harms as time expired in the first stanza to keep the match level at 0-0.

Just over two minutes into the second half, Texas Tech scored off a set piece and took the lead 1-0 in the match. The following 12 minutes saw two shots from the TCU side that was looking to build momentum. Leah Negeri, making her first career appearance, played quality minutes in each half and provided a spark for TCU.

A handful of attacking opportunities were created throughout the remainder of the second half, including one off a miscue from the Red Raider goalie that saw TCU with a slim chance in the box, but no shots were able to land in the back of the net for the remainder of the match.

Olivia Geller played all 90 minutes, recording three saves.
