Two in-state rivals face off on national television
FORT WORTH – In the first Big 12 women's soccer contest in history to be aired on ESPN2, the TCU women's soccer team will play host to rival No. 12 Texas Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
TCU (5-5-1, 2-3 Big 12) will round off its three-match home swing with a contest against the 12th-ranked Red Raiders in a premier matchup between two league rivals.
In what was originally one of the two contests in the Big 12 to be televised on ESPNU this year, the highly anticipated showdown between the Horned Frogs and Red Raiders is set to stand alone amongst the rest of the conference on ESPN2 - the first time in conference history.
This is the seventh match to be broadcasted on an ESPN linear network in program history, with every occurrence coming under head coach Eric Bell.
The two programs have been the Big 12's most successful in the past few seasons. TCU has clinched the conference's most recent spot in the NCAA College Cup and has won four of the past six Big 12 titles.
The Frogs are looking to get back into the win column after a 2-1 loss to UCF on Thursday. Emma Yolinsky got in the score sheet for the second consecutive match during the first half, increasing her team-leading goal total to seven.
