Horned Frogs host Mountaineers on Sunday in battle for first place in Big 12
FORT WORTH – TCU and West Virginia stand in one another's way in the race for the Big 12 title, and one team will soon gain a major leg up on the other.
The 17th-ranked Horned Frogs are set to host the Mountaineers at 7 p.m. on Sunday at Schollmaier Arena in a game that will air on FS1.
West Virginia, tabbed No. 19 latest AP Top 25, holds a half-game lead over TCU for first place in the Big 12 standings. The Horned Frogs and Mountaineers are two of four teams with three conference losses.
TCU will secure a critical season sweep of the Mountaineers and its NCAA-leading 40th straight home victory with a win on Sunday.

- TCU is vying for its 40th straight win at home against the last team it fell victim to inside Schollmaier Arena. The Mountaineers defeated the Horned Frogs 77-52 on Feb. 13, 2024 in a game TCU competed with just seven healthy scholarship players. Since then, TCU has not lost at home for 733 continuous days.
- The Horned Frogs will match No. 4 Texas for the longest home winning streak in the country with a win on Sunday.
- TCU and West Virginia are a part of a four-way tie for first place in the loss column in the Big 12 standings.
- The Frogs will secure a season sweep and crucial head-to-head tiebreaker over the Mountaineers with a victory. TCU escaped Morgantown with a 51-50 win on Jan. 14 in a game that ended with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Marta Suarez.
- TCU's last-second victory in Morgantown in January was improbable on the surface. The Horned Frogs coughed up a 14-point first half lead, went scoreless for more than eight minutes between the second and third quarters and finished with season-lows in points and assists (five) yet still found away to win.
- The Horned Frogs and Mountaineers' first encounter in 2026 was a defensive slugfest. Both teams finished with season-highs in turnovers - 24 for TCU and 23 for WVU - and season-lows for points and field goal percentage. TCU's 23 forced turnovers were is most ever in a Big 12 game. The Frogs held WVU to just 28 percent shooting.
- TCU's performances vs. WVU on home court or a neutral floor have been markedly different. The Horned Frogs rolled to a 71-50 win over the Mountaineers at Schollmaier Arena on Feb. 23, 2025. In a 71-65 triumph over WVU two weeks later in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament, the Frogs finished with 10 turnovers, the fewest committed in a game vs. a Mark Kellogg-led WVU defense.
- TCU has morphed into one of the nation's winningest programs after bottoming out vs. WVU at home two seasons ago. Since that game, the Horned Frogs have competed to a 61-11 overall record and 33-7 mark vs. Big 12 teams.
- Under Mark Campbell, TCU ranks fifth among all D1 programs in winning percentage (.875) and total wins (56) since 2024-25. Campbell's 77 wins as TCU's head man are the sixth-most at the Power Conference level over the past three years.
