10th-ranked Horned Frogs fall 62-53 to No. 15 West Virginia in tournament finale
KANSAS CITY, Missouri –No. 10 TCU's pursuit of a second straight sweep of the Big 12 regular season and tournament championships fell one game short.
Squaring off with 15th-ranked West Virginia for the third time in 2026 in the Big 12 Tournament finale, the Horned Frogs suffered a 62-53 loss on Sunday inside the T-Mobile Center.
TCU (29-5, 15-3 Big 12) shot a season-low 33 percent from the field as the Mountaineers (27-6, 14-4 Big 12) built an 11-point lead heading into the final frame. Up 23-19, TCU gave up a 7-0 run over the final 2:06 of the first half and never again led. West Virginia scored seven unanswered points in the first, second and third quarters. The final 7-0 run widened TCU's deficit to 41-30 with 45 second to go in the third.
Olivia Miles and Marta Suarez were tabbed to the Big 12 All-Tournament Team following the final horn.
Miles led TCU with 17 points while Suarez finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Suarez averaged 18.3 points and nine rebounds per game across the Horned Frogs' trio of contests in Kansas City.
The rest of the TCU roster contributed eight field goals and just two 3-pointers in Sunday's loss.
The Horned Frogs entered the championship tilt riding a four-game winning streak over the Mountaineers. TCU swept the regular season series between the league's top-seeded teams to finish one game ahead in the final conference standings and earn a second consecutive undisputed regular season title.
Facing off with a West Virginia squad that averages 23 forced turnovers per game, TCU limited its giveaways to 11.
But the Horned Frogs offensive rhythm sputtered as Miles picked up her fourth foul less than a minute into the second half. With the Big 12 Player and Newcomer of the Year limited, the Mountaineers collapsed on Suarez and dared other players to consistently score. TCU managed only nine points in the third quarter.
TCU whittled West Virginia's lead down to two possessions at 56-50 with 38 seconds to go. It was too little, too late, as the Mountaineers went 8-8 at the foul line in the final frame to put the victory on ice.
The Horned Frogs finished with nine assists, their second fewest in a game this season, and were outrebounded 41-34.
The Mountaineers drew 19 fouls compared to eight for TCU.
West Virginia was paced by Tournament MVP Jordan Harrison, who led all players with 21 points and three steals.
