Women’s Tennis hosts its first ranked opponent of the 2021 season
FORT WORTH -- TCU Women's Tennis (5-2) is preparing for its first ranked match of the season, hosting No. 18 UCF on Thursday, Feb. 25, at noon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. This will be the first match back for the Horned Frogs after a 12-day hiatus due to inclement weather.

TCU is playing in its first match in 12 days after having its previously scheduled match against UCF postponed to this week. The Horned Frogs secured a 6-1 road victory over Samford in their most recent match, improving to 5-2 this season.
Mercedes Aristegui has been in a strong run of form this season. She leads the Frogs with a 6-0 record in dual singles matches this year, winning her matches by a combined score of 84-29 at the No. 3 spot (78.8 winning pct.). She has not lost a set in dual play thus far (13-0) and leads the team with two 6-0 sets, along with Marie Norris.
Norris is having a stellar spring season as well. She leads all Horned Frogs with 9 singles wins and 17 wins overall. The senior, ranked No. 68 in the country, is coming off another dominating performance her last time out, defeating De Ugarte from Samford, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. She has won just under half of her sets this season (10 of 21) by a score of either 6-1 or 6-0.
Scouting the Opponent
UCF enters the match as the No. 18-ranked team in the nation. The Knights are 6-2 this season and carry a six-match win streak into the weekend. UCF swept No. 21 Florida in a home-and-home series earlier this season, collecting a 4-3 home win before defeating the Gators, 4-1, on the road.
This will be the fifth meeting between TCU and UCF. The Horned Frogs lead the all-time series, 3-1 despite dropping the most recent match, last season (Feb. 14, 2020). TCU is 2-0 against UCF on the purple courts.
