TCU enters the weekend after posting a 4-2 record in its season opening six-match home stand. The Frogs are coming off a pair of hard-fought losses to Texas A&M and LSU, both of which are receiving votes in the national Top-25 poll.
Mercedes Aristegui was recognized as the ITA/UTR National Player of the Week for her efforts in taking down the No. 14-ranked doubles pairing from LSU on top of her two singles wins last week. She leads the Frogs with a 5-0 record in dual singles matches this year, winning her matches by a combined score of 72-26 at the No. 3 spot. She has not lost a set in dual play thus far and leads the team with two 6-0 sets, along with Marie Norris.
Norris is having a stellar spring season as well. She leads all Horned Frogs with 8 singles wins and 15 wins overall. The senior, ranked No. 68 in the country, is coming off of her first ranked win of the new season, taking down No. 64 Makarova from TAMU last week.
Scouting the Opponents
Samford enters the dual with a 2-3 record. The Bulldogs have won their last two matches against UL-Monroe and UT-Martin. They are 0-2 against Power 5 opponents this season, failing to register a point against both Auburn and Mississippi State. This will be the first meeting between Samford and TCU.
Alabama enters the weekend with a 7-1 record, all coming against non-Power 5 opponents. The Crimson Tide's lone loss of the year came to Furman, 4-3, in Tuscaloosa. They are hosting Tulane this Friday before facing the Frogs Sunday as a part of their 12-match home stand to begin the season. This will be the eighth all-time meeting between Alabama and TCU. Alabama leads the all-time series, 6-1, with TCU claiming the last meeting, by a 6-1 score back in 2017.
