Senior is one of 15 semifinalists
FORT WORTH – TCU women's soccer standout Messiah Bright has been named one of 15 semifinalists for the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy Award. The senior from Dallas is the lone representative from the Big 12 Conference.
Bright rewrote the single-season offensive record book for the Horned Frogs in 2021. She became TCU's first-ever 40-point scorer, tallying a school-record 17 goals and adding six assists on the year. Additionally, she completed her climb to the top of the career records and now owns the school-record for goals with 39 and points with 92. Her efforts on the pitch earned her first-team all-Big 12 honors. Twice she was named the Big 12 Player of the Week during the regular season. She was also key to TCU's run to the Big 12 Tournament title and a berth in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. She was named the Big 12 Tournament's Offensive Most Outstanding Player. In the NCAA Tournament, Bright scored a hat trick in the second round double overtime win over Princeton.
Three women's finalists will be named for the award on Wednesday, Dec. 8 in conjunction with the Women's College Cup in Santa Clara, Calif. The 2021 MAC Hermann Trophy banquet will be held at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 7, 2022 to formally announce this year's winners.
The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer and has been awarded annually since 1967. For more information about the history of the MAC Hermann Trophy, visit MACHermannTrophy.org.
