PREVIEW: TCU Volleyball Fight in the Fort

TCU Volleyball welcomes No.22 Florida State, Colorado State and Florida Atlantic
FORT WORTH -- TCU volleyball (3-0, 0-0 Big 12) continues its non-conference tournament schedule with three matches this weekend against three quality opponents. The Horned Frogs will host No. 22 Florida State (1-1, 0-0 ACC) along with Colorado State (2-1, 0-0 MWC) and Florida Atlantic (2-0, 0-0 C-USA).
Tournament Quick Hits
-Three of the four teams competing this weekend are either ranked or receiving votes in the AVCA coaches' poll. TCU moved up in the polls, receiving 37 votes, an improvement over the 10 votes it received in the preseason. Florida State earned a No. 22 rank after defeating Minnesota last weekend while Colorado State fell behind the Horned Frogs, getting 14 votes.
-Head coach Jill Kramer has enjoyed plenty of success in home, non-conference matches, where she holds a 19-2 record in four-plus seasons, including a current 13-match win streak dating back to September 8, 2017.
-Kramer has won 137 matches in her career and 67 while at TCU. Should the Horned Frogs finish the weekend 3-0, Kramer will have won exactly half of her career matches while coaching the Horned Frogs. It took her five seasons at WVU to reach 70 wins, she is currently at 67 victories three matches into her fifth season in Fort Worth.
-TCU has had three sold out crowds in three matches this season.
-As a team, TCU leads the Big 12 with an average of 2.40 aces per set.
Cow Town Classic Recap
-Freshman outside hitter Audrey Nalls leads all scorers with 38 kills, including the first 20+ kill match of her career against Villanova. She became the first freshman to achieve 20 or more kills in a match since élan McCall delivered 22 at WVU – Nov. 14, 2018.
-Nalls earned the first double-double of her career against Villanova, finishing with 20 kills and 13 digs.
-She finished the weekend with 38 kills, 21 digs and six blocks to earn tournament MVP.
-Sophomore right side Katie Clark turned in her first double-digit kill match of 2019 against Villanova with 13 kills, including five in the fourth set. It was the ninth match of her career with 10+ kills.
-She finished the weekend with 27 kills on .317 hitting, earning herself All-Tournament team honors.
-Freshman middle blocker Afedo Manyang led the team in blocks in all three matches. She also notched a team-best seven aces, good for 0.7 aces per set, third best in the Big 12.
Manyang delivered 13 blocks throughout the weekend (1.3 blocks per set) along with 14 kills and seven aces, receiving All-Tournament honors for her work.
-Freshman setter Irem Uçar led the team in assists in all three matches, she leads with way with 54 dimes, splitting time with freshman McKenzie Nicholls, who currently has 39.
-The Frogs have a three-way tie for the lead in digs with juniors Berklie Baker and Dani Dennison drawing even with Nalls – they each have 21 digs in 10 sets.
Scouting the Opponent: Colorado State
-Colorado State enters the weekend 2-1. The Rams fell in the polls, receiving fewer votes than in the preseason poll, after dropping a four-set match to California last Saturday.
-They followed the loss with a sweep of Oklahoma the following day, ending the weekend with a winning record – also defeated Chicago State, 3-0 last Friday.
-CSU is led offensively by redshirt junior Breana Runnels, who is averaging 3.40 kills per set this season.
-They are averaging 3.25 blocks per set, the most in the Mountain West, as five members of the team have recorded five or more blocks through three matches.
-The Rams lead the all-time series with TCU, 14-4. The Frogs are looking for their first victory over CSU in the Kramer era.
-In last season's TCU vs. CSU match, Katie Clark set her career-high in blocks, with six.
Scouting the Opponent: Florida Atlantic
-FAU enters the weekend with an unbeaten 2-0 record, having defeated Grambling State and Stetson in Boca Raton, Fla. last weekend.
-They lead Conference USA in kills, with 99 in seven sets (14.14) and hitting percentage (.324).
-The Owls boast a balanced offense with four different players earning 18 or more kills. Massiel Matos and Sydney Nemtuda leads the team in the category, each with 20 kills.
-This is the first-ever meeting between TCU and FAU.
Scouting the Opponent: No.22 Florida State
-The Seminoles earned a Top-25 ranking in the AVCA coaches poll this week after emerging 1-1 from one of the most difficult opening weekends in the country last week. FSU faced two Top 5 opponents in No. 5 Wisconsin and No. 3 Minnesota.
-They fell to the Badgers before sweeping Minnesota to earn a No. 22 rank.
-Jasmyn Martin leads the 'Noles in kills with 20. Taryn Knuth has been stifling on the net where she has collected 12.0 blocks in just two matches, averaging 2.00 blocks per set.
-FSU leads the all-time series with TCU 3-0, including wins over the Frogs in each of the last two seasons.
-In 2017's TCU vs FSU match, Berklie Baker set her career high in aces, with three.
Clear Bag Policy
Only the following items will be permitted upon entrance into TCU athletics facilities:
-Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and not exceeding 14 inches by 14 inches.
-One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
-One unopened bottle of water.
-Small clutch bags with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the venue with one of the clear plastic bags.
-The Small clutch bags must be approximately the size of a hand.
-Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at stadium/arena gates.
-Backpacks, diaper bags and other similar bags will not be allowed.
