TAMPA, Fla. – Firing on all cylinders, No. 11 TCU volleyball opened the South Florida Invitational by sweeping the host USF on Thursday night inside The Corral.

The Horned Frogs (4-2, 0-0 Big 12) picked up their second straight sweep after taking down No. 14 Purdue last Sunday. Reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, Becca Kelley led the Frogs with 16 kills on a .429 clip. Pin hitters Jalyn Gibson and Reese Robins each added nine kills, with Gibson committing just one error on 14 swings to hit .571. Lauren Murphy provided a spark off the bench with five kills and three aces.

The conference's Setter of the Week, Rosemary Archer, filled up the stat sheet, finishing with 24 assists, 10 digs and two aces. She combined with Reese Wilburn to help the TCU offense hit at a blistering .396 clip, its best mark this season.

One of the nation's best blocking teams, TCU finished with nine in three sets. Kinsley Young once again made her presence felt at the net, totaling five blocks while De'Andrea McMillian added three.

The opening set quickly turned into a battle. Neither team was able to create much separation early, but a 5-1 USF run gave the Bulls their largest lead of the frame at 23-18 and forced the Frogs to call a timeout. With its back against the wall, TCU responded. Young started the comeback with a block, and Archer followed with an ace. Kelley, Gibson and Evan Hendrix then rattled off three straight kills to erase the deficit and tie the set at 23. The Bulls earned set point twice, but the Frogs answered each time to stay alive and continued to trade punches. Tied at 28-28, a USF service error gave TCU its third set point of the frame, and Kelley fittingly slammed the door, hammering down her ninth kill of the set alone to win 30-28.

The Frogs carried the momentum into the second set, committing just one attacking error and hitting .480 as a team. Leading by one, Robins sparked a 4-0 run with a kill and a block. TCU continued to stretch the lead to five at 16-11 with an Archer ace. USF tried to slow the Frogs down, calling both their timeouts, but TCU continued to roll. Gibson flexed with back-to-back blocks on the right side followed immediately by two straight aces from Murphy to push the advantage to 10. A pair of kills from Gibson and Robins closed out a dominant set victory.

Leading two sets to none, TCU looked to finish off the match, but the Bulls refused to go quietly. Both teams battled back and forth in a set that featured 15 ties and 10 lead changes. The Frogs were the first to 20, using a 3-0 run featuring an Alice Volpe ace, but USF responded with a run of its own to take a 23-22 lead. Kelley slammed down her biggest kill of the match to tie the score, and Murphy and Young followed with a block to give TCU match point. The Bulls fended off one point before Murphy put the Frogs back in front, and a USF error sealed the sweep, 26-24.

TCU continues play at the South Florida Invitational on Friday against Michigan at 12 p.m. CT before wrapping up the weekend against Dayton on Saturday.
