No. 18 TCU Falls to No. 6 Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 18 TCU volleyball fell to No. 6 Louisville in three sets on Friday afternoon at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.
In her return to Louisville after transferring, senior opposite Reese Robins led the Horned Frogs offensively with 12 kills on a .647 hitting percentage. Robins, who spent three seasons with the Cardinals, leading them to a National Runner-Up finish in 2024, was greeted with a standing ovation by the home crowd.
Evan Hendrix followed with 10 kills, extending her double-digit streak to 26 consecutive matches. Freshman middle blocker Kinsley Young picked up a career-best eight kills on 15 swings, and Becca Kelley also totaled eight kills.
TCU opened the first set with three straight kills from Young, Kelley and Hendrix. Louisville responded with an early 8-1 run to take the lead back at 12-9 and stretched it to 15-11 at the media timeout. The Frogs chipped away at the lead, pulling within two points multiple times in the set. They fended off set point twice as Robins and Kelley slammed down kills to cut it to 24-23, but the Cardinals hung on to win 25-23.
The momentum from the opening set carried into the second for Louisville as the Cardinals scored six unanswered points to start. The lead grew to 10 at the media break and proved to be too much as the Frogs struggled offensively, hitting .161 to UL's .621. Robins did have five kills in the set alone, but Louisville took a 2-0 lead with a 25-14 victory.
Tied at 4-4 in the third, the Frogs went on a 7-2 run capped off by back-to-back kills from Robins and forced Louisville to burn a timeout. TCU's five-point lead was erased by the Cardinals as they were the first to the red zone at 20-19. The Frogs fended off two straight set points with Hendrix's 10th kill of the match and a block from Young, tying the score at 24-all. A service error bailed TCU out of another set point, but a kill and a close no-touch call sealed the win for Louisville in extra points, 27-25.
The Frogs' ranked road trip continues at No. 14 Purdue on Sunday, Sept. 6. The Frogs and the Boilermakers meet for the first time ever at noon CT. Fans can watch the match live on Big Ten Network.
