Scouting Air Force
The Falcons return 10 starters from last year's squad that finished 8-9-2 overall, the program's winningest season since 2001, and 1-5-1 in Mountain West play. Air Force was picked to finish seventh by the league's coaches in the preseason poll. Junior forward has led the Falcons in scoring in each of the last two seasons, while sophomore goalkeeper Kelly Stambaugh enjoyed the second-lowest goals-against-average in program history as a freshman in 2010.
USAFA enters tonight's match with a 6-5-3 overall after posting shutouts in two of its last three matches. The Falcons haven't given up a goal since a 2-2 tie against IUPUI on Sept. 23. Their lone MW match was a 1-0 win at Boise State on Oct. 8.
TCU-USAFA Series History
TCU owns a 6-2-1 advantage in the all-time series with the Falcons. Air Force earned a 2-0 win in the first meeting in 1996 and in the last meeting in 2010. The Frogs claimed the last meeting at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium with a game-winning overtime penalty kick from Michelle Nguyen in 2009.
TCU Hosting Soccer Equipment Drive Friday Night
Fans can bring any gently used soccer item (cleats, socks, shin guards, shorts, jerseys or shirts) to match against Air Force Friday and receive a $2 ticket at the gate. The match is set to start at 7 p.m. at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
Senior Day Sunday
The 2011 senior class will play the final home game of their collegiate careers Sunday against Wyoming. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. There will be a postgame ceremony to honor the seniors.
