FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU Lady Frogs (4-5) won their second game in a row Thursday night in Fort Worth, Texas, downing the Arkansas State Lady Indians (5-6) 91-67 in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
TCU's Adrianne Ross caught fire in the first half, tallying 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting. The Lady Frogs led by as many as 11, 44-33, with 2:03 remaining before Rudy Sims drained a three to make the halftime score 44-36.
Ross finished with 23 points to lead all scorers and tie a career-high she set last season against California.
The Lady Indians were able to cut the disparity to as few as five two times in the second half, the latter of which came with 15:55 to play after Adrianne Davie's layup put the score at 51-46.
With a 64-57 advantage at the 9:01 mark, TCU put the game away on a 19-4 run over the next 6:55. Natasha Lacy and Jenna Lohse combined for 13 points during the stretch.
Lohse finished with a career-high 17 points, shattering her previous mark of six. She also posted eight rebounds, four more than her former best.
TCU's Ashley Davis was also in double figures, tossing in 16 off the bench. She connected on 4-of-7 from behind the arc.
Arkansas State was led by Davie's double-double coming on 14 points and 11 boards. Sims was the high scorer with 17, and Kelsey Lock added 10.
Turnovers were a big factor, as TCU committed just nine to ASU's 20. It was just the 10th time in TCU's 663 games at the NCAA Division I level that it had less than 10 in a game. Points off turnovers favored the Lady Frogs 24-6.
TCU shot a season-best 45.8 percent (27-of-59) from the floor and was 8-of-18 (.444) on threes, also a high for the year. ASU connected on 22-of-59 (.373) and just 6-of-22 (.273) from three-point land.
The Lady Frogs return to action Friday, Dec. 30, when they host Texas-Arlington at 7 p.m. CST.
