FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU head women's soccer coach Dave Rubinson announced today the signing of five new recruits for the upcoming 2002 season. The five freshmen will help add to a team that saw six seniors graduate from last year's 7-11 (3-7 Conference USA) squad.
Elizabeth Walsh and Molly Hicks, two standout players from the Episcopal School of Dallas and Highland Park, both in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, will be joining TCU this fall. Both Walsh and Hicks played for the Defeaters 84 club team, which reached the semifinals of Nationals last year. Walsh is expected to play forward/midfield, while Hicks could see time as a defender/midfielder.
Lauren Siepiela, a defender/midfielder from the Episcopal School of Dallas, also signed with the Horned Frogs. Kristi Nebozuk, a defender/midfielder from Amador Valley High School in Pleasonton, California, and Casey Sturm, a midfielder from St. Petersburg High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, rounded out TCU's 2002 recruiting class.
"I think these players will blend in very well with our team," said TCU head coach Dave Rubinson on this year's class. "I am especially happy to get three very good players (Walsh, Hicks, and Siepiela) from the Metroplex. Down the road, these girls will make a huge difference on our team."
