Box Score

FORT WORTH – No. 10 TCU volleyball came up short against Baylor on Sunday afternoon, falling 3-0 inside Schollmaier Arena.

The Horned Frogs (15-4, 6-2 Big 12) played Baylor close in every set but were unable to make enough plays late to close out. Evan Hendrix led TCU with 14 kills. Becca Kelley followed with 11 kills and eight digs, while Jalyn Gibson added seven kills and three aces.

TCU came out strong in the opening set, hitting .429 as a team. The Frogs built up an early 6-2 advantage and held the lead through the media timeout, but Baylor slowly chipped away at the lead. A 7-1 run flipped the momentum in the Bears' favor, giving them a 22-17 lead. TCU cut it to two at 22-20, but ultimately fell 25-22.

Trailing by three in the second, Archer stepped to the service line and sparked a 4-0 run that featured an ace and a pair of kills from Gibson and Kelley to put the Frogs in front, 18-17. Baylor responded with a 4-1 run of its own to regain control. TCU tried to climb back into the set, but the Bears closed out the final two rallies to win 25-22.

With its back against the wall, TCU erased a five-point deficit in the third set to tie the match at 19 all. Both teams went back and forth from there, with the Frogs eventually earning set point on a Baylor service error. The Bears fended off three set points before three consecutive kills from Ksenia Rakhmanchik gave Baylor the 27-25 victory.

TCU continues Big 12 play Friday, Oct. 23, when it welcomes No. 17 Kansas to Schollmaier Arena.
