Horned Frogs capture highest Big 12 finish since 2016
FORT WORTH – With the regular season finished, the TCU women's tennis team earned a top-three finish in the Big 12 and has its matchup set for the Big 12 Tournament, the league announced.
After finishing third in the end-of-season Big 12 standings, the Frogs have secured their best Big 12 result since the 2016 season when the team finished tied for second and grabbed the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.
With 10 wins in Big 12 play this season, TCU has earned its most conference wins in a season as a member of the conference by three victories.
TCU is set to take on No. 6 seed Baylor in the Big 12 Tournament Quarterfinals on Thursday, April 16 at 2 p.m. in Orlando, Florida, at the USTA National Campus. The two teams faced off earlier in the season in Fort Worth, with the Frogs capturing a 4-1 record over the Bears.
The Frogs tied Arizona with the same conference play record, but due to tiebreaker rules TCU will be the No. 3 seed after winning the head-to-head matchup against the Wildcats earlier during the regular season.
If TCU were to advance to the next round, it would take on either No. 2 seed Arizona State against the winner of seventh-seeded Houston or No. 10 seed Texas Tech on Friday, April 17, at 6 p.m.
