FORT WORTH – In the final match of the regular season, the TCU women's soccer team played Arizona to a 1-1 tie on Thursday night at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
The Horned Frogs (5-9-3, 2-7-2 Big 12) fell behind early in the second half to the Wildcats, but a Cameron Patton goal in the 74th minute gave the Frogs the score they needed to bring the match back to a 1-1 ledger.
THE RUNDOWN
The two halves featured drastically different offensive numbers, as the first 45 minutes opened with only six shots compared to 19 in the second half.
Emma Yolinsky recorded a shot on goal and Eliza Collings had a save, but besides those two occurrences the first half featured both sides attempting to settle into an offensive groove as no chances were capitalized on heading into the break.
To open the second stanza, Arizona would strike with a goal that was hit in just outside the net from a cross to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute.
Once the 70th minute hit, TCU would unleash an offensive barrage of 11 shots over the next 12 minutes and nine seconds. Even through chances that would hit the crossbar and land in every area close to the goal but inside the net would occur to start, one of those chances would finally pay off for the Frogs.
In the 74th minute, Patton would find herself near the ball outside the box, as the junior would send a left-footed rocket towards the goal that would head past the Arizona goalkeeper and into the back of the net to even the match at 1-1.
The Frogs would create a few more chances to follow but were unable to take the late lead as the match would end in a tie between the two programs.
Eliza Collings played all 90 minutes in goal, recording a pair of saves.
