TCU unable to get job done against Jayhawks

FORT WORTH – In a back-and-forth contest, the TCU women's soccer team came up short against 18th-ranked Kansas, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.

The Horned Frogs (5-9-1, 2-7 Big 12) put across two goals in the first half to take a 2-1 lead into the break, but a pair of Jayhawk scores the final 12 minutes of action were the difference in today's result on the scoreboard.

Emma Yolinsky and Grace Vest secured the two goals today for TCU, while Cameron Byrd, Bella Diorio and Madison Taylor had the assists on the two scores.

THE RUNDOWN
The first half saw a change in momentum shifts throughout the opening and back half of action that saw TCU up in the ledger at the half. Kansas was able to break open the scoring in the eighth minute and put up the only three shots of the game for nearly the first 15 minutes of action.

However, the score would change as in the 15th minute Yolinsky would receive the ball outside the TCU box and make an impressive run down the pitch, combining dribble moves and speed to find herself in open space on the other half of the field. After a dish to Diorio, the senior would send the ball back into the box, finding Yolinsky for a score to tie the game.

The Frogs would scratch across another goal later on in the first half, as Byrd would send a ball into the attacking side of the field which would be headed back by Taylor to a running Vest. The sophomore would spring near the goal and fire a shot with her right foot that would find the back of the net, and TCU would take the 2-1 lead heading into the break.

The second 45 minutes of play was led by the difference in shot totals, as Kansas led in the category 10-1 during the half. The attacking would pay off, as the Jayhawks would score twice in the concluding 12 minutes of play to retake the lead and close out the match.
