LUBBOCK, Texas – Messiah Bright's goal in the 85th minute propelled No. 6 TCU to a 1-0 victory at Texas Tech and locked up the Horned Frogs second straight Big 12 regular season championship. Lauren Kellett made three saves to secure her eighth shutout of the season.
The Rundown
TCU and Texas Tech played a scoreless first half. The Red Raiders had a slim 4-3 shot advantage, but it was the Horned Frogs that had the best look in the frame. Just two minutes into the contest, Camryn Lancaster went for a run and fired a rising shot from about 20 yards out that needed a leaping save by the Texas Tech keeper.
Texas Tech's lone shot on goal in the half came in the final minute of the period on a long shot from distance that traveled through traffic into the waiting arms of Lauren Kellett.
The two teams continued to go toe-to-toe in the second half. Texas Tech had the early possession, forcing a couple of easy saves for Kellett.
TCU found its possession game near the midpoint of the half and finally took advantage of a set piece to net the game winner. Off a Texas Tech foul, TCU capitalized on the free kick as Lancaster delivered a perfectly placed ball inside the six. Messiah Bright worked around her defender and fired home a low shot for the eventual game-winner.
Defensively, the Frogs limited the Red Raiders to just eight shots, three on goal, and only one corner kick.

Quotes of the Game
Head Coach Eric Bell
Back To Back
"Our kids worked really hard all year; especially after a long season last year, to come back and do it again is incredible. I'm very proud of our group and happy for them and what they've accomplished. What this group has done for this program is fantastic."
On the game:
"It was more of a chess match than I thought it would be. Very much a soccer game where tactics were involved. Our kids stayed the course. I really felt like towards the last 25 minutes of the game, we were really on the ball. I thought our depth showed up in the second. We were able to have the ball and do things. It was nice for Messiah to get the goal off the free kick to seal the victory for us."
On the closing the book on the regular season.
"We are going celebrate tonight and enjoy the win, but tomorrow when the sun rises, we are back at it getting ready for Sunday against Iowa State."
