TCU picks up second straight SEC victory

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A trio of goals led the No. 19 TCU women's soccer program to an emphatic road victory over Texas A&M, 3-0, on Thursday night at Ellis Field.

The Horned Frogs (3-1-1) picked up their second-ever win at Ellis Field and fourth road win all-time against Texas A&M with tonight's victory, and tonight's 3-0 win is the largest margin of victory for TCU since the 1992 season when the Frogs bested the Aggies by the same score in College Station.

The first half featured a pair of impressive goals from the Frogs by Grace Vest in her second career start and Bella Diorio. Another dazzling score would then be added in the second stanza by Grace Coppinger, giving TCU more than enough insurance to pull out the victory and head back home victorious.

THE RUNDOWN
In a stadium and environment that has given TCU troubles in the past, tonight the Frogs were ahead of the ball from the jump and the results proved so.

The scoring would get started early in the 10th minute of action. Peyton Nourse fed Kamdyn Fuller in the middle of the field who then placed a beautiful through ball that found a streaking Vest in stride in the middle of the field with nobody in front of her. The sophomore forward put on the afterburners and slotted one into the back of the net to give TCU the early 1-0 advantage.

In the 36th minute, a Texas A&M turnover in their own half landed right at the feet of Diorio. The forward took a few dribbles, geared up for a shot from right outside the box and sent one in that went past the outstretched arms of the Aggie goalkeeper to double TCU's advantage, 2-0.

The Frogs would hold onto their lead for the remainder of the first half, outshooting the Aggies 9-6 and securing eight corners.

In the 58th minute, a TCU corner kick would lead to Evie Baker receiving the ball after an attempted clearance. Baker would send the ball into the box, finding Coppinger's head who put in a no-look header facing away from the goal to give the Frogs their third goal of the match and putting this one away for good.

Even though the Frogs did not record a shot after the 57th minute, the TCU defense was able to secure the clean sheet and keep the Aggies away from scoring, including a remarkable heading save from Mackenzie Hilderman in the 72nd minute.

Olivia Geller held things down in goal, playing all 90 minutes and notching five saves for her second clean sheet of the season.
