FORT WORTH – Head coach Lee Walker announced the 2020 spring schedule for the TCU women's tennis team. The Horned Frogs will host eight matches at the Friedman Tennis Center including four Big 12 matches.
"We have a special group that's been working hard this semester," head coach Lee Walker said. "Our schedule is one of the toughest in the country and reflects the belief we have in the team. We look forward to continuing to prepare for what is going to be a remarkable season. There are several matches the girls have already circled that are going to be big time redemption matches for us all. To see the girls come together this semester, along with the entire staff, has been a wonderful experience. Our strength and conditioning coach Todd Kensler has put in a lot of time with our team and he has us ready to handle the physical load of this schedule. We have built belief this semester and we need to keep doing that these next 8 weeks."
Overall, the Horned Frogs will play 24 matches against 22 teams. Opportunities will be abundant as 18 opponents finished the 2019 season ranked in the Oracle/ITA poll, with eight finishing in the Top 20.
The non-conference slate contains matches with some of the blue-bloods of the sport such as: Stanford, UCLA, USC and Michigan. Horned Frog fans can watch home matches against ranked opponents: Rice, USF and Texas Tech as well as an early February match against New Mexico.
In conference, TCU opens with four road matches before finishing the schedule against Kansas State, Kansas, Baylor and Texas.
Following conference play, the Horned Frogs will have a trip to California to battle UCLA and USC before returning to Stillwater, Oklahoma for the Big 12 Championships. Stillwater will be a frequent stop for the team as it hosts TCU on March, 8 for a regular season dual before hosting the conference tournament and the final three rounds of the NCAA tournament as well as the Individual and Doubles tournaments.
