
TCU Set To Host San Diego State And USF

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU volleyball team will wrap up the 2010 season this week, beginning with a Wednesday night match against San Diego State. First serve against the Aztecs is set for 7 p.m. The 2010 season concludes Saturday afternoon as the Frogs host former C-USA foe, USF. The Horned Frogs will honor their two seniors following the 1 p.m. match.
TCU NOTABLES
On Saturday against Utah, Irene Hester joined an elite group as she tallied her first career triple-double.
Christy Hudson has twice recorded a triple-double, giving TCU three this season. They had just three in the previous 14 years.
Hudson moved into the setter role and had a career-high 32 assists against BYU on Thursday night.
Meghan Horio made her mark as the libero, totaling 35 digs, an average of 4.38 per set.
The Frogs continue to pace the league defensively with 16.10 digs per set.
Irene Hester still leads the league in kills per set (3.69), aces per set (0.39) and points per set (4.30).
SAN DIEGO STATE NOTABLES
The Aztecs are rolling with a three-game winning streak, all of which have been 3-0 wins for SDSU.
The Aztecs have been one of the hotter teams in the league with a 7-3 mark in their last 10 and have climbed to fourth in the league standings.
Raegan Shelton is the leading offensive threat, averaging 2.96 kills per set.
Johnna Fouch leads the league with an average of 10.59 assists per set.
Kristi Jackels is the leading back row player with an average of 3.63 digs per set.
THE SERIES
San Diego State took a 7-6 series lead with their 3-2 win earlier this season.
TCU has won six of the last nine match-ups dating back to the 2006 season.
Since joining the Mountain West, the Frogs own a 6-5 series record.
The Frogs are 3-3 all-time against San Diego State in Fort Worth.
TCU is 5-2 against SDSU in the last seven matches played.
USF NOTABLES
The Bulls enter Saturday's match with a 10-17 record.
They were beaten in the first round of last week's Big East tournament by Cincinnati.
USF has lost six straight heading into the match and have been swept four times in that stretch.
The Bulls are led by Allie Boaz's 3.22 kills per set.
Mariana Thon guides the team to an average of 11.7 kills per set.
Defensively, the Bulls are paced by Janice Rivera's 4.12 digs per set.
THE SERIES
TCU and South Florida are former conference foes as both were members of Conference USA before TCU moved to the Mountain West and South Florida went to the Big East.
USF holds a 3-1 series lead.
The last meeting between the schools was a 3-0 win by the Frogs on Oct. 29, 2004 in Fort Worth.
USF is 1-1 all-time Fort Worth.
