PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - TCU sophomore Kayla Duncan ended her streak at the 2009 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships Friday at The Riviera Tennis Club. Duncan fell at the hands of No. 97 McCall Jones from BYU, 6-2, 6-0.
"Kayla had a great run this week," TCU head coach Jefferson Hammond. "I'm looking forward to a nice steady week of practice to prepare for the regional next weekend in Waco."
Duncan has been playing superb tennis since last spring. After ending her freshman campaign on an 11-match winning streak, the 2009 all-MWC singles and doubles honoree went on to claim the singles title at the N.C. State Tar Heel Qualifier and a gold ball for her USTA Junior Clay Court Doubles crown. Currently unranked in the Campbell's/ITA Preseason Singles Rankings, Duncan defeated four opponents listed in the top-100 this week.
