FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU women's tennis head coach Jefferson Hammond will take four Frogs to the 2009 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships at Pacific Palisades, Calif., Oct. 3-11. TCU has enjoyed 10 entries in the last two seasons.
"This is one of the big three individual tournaments of the year," Hammond said. "It is a great opportunity for our team to build confidence and earn wins against ranked opponents, which ultimately helps their individual rankings."
Newcomer Megan Alexander and sophomore Kayla Duncan will work through the prequalifying brackets in singles action. Duncan enjoyed a 27-7 singles record in 2009, recording the second-most wins by a TCU freshman. Alexander, a native of Dallas, Texas, began her Horned Frog career at the Racquet Club Invitational in Midland, Texas two weeks ago after spending three seasons at Florida.
A pair of doubles tandems will also represent TCU in the prequalifying stage. The all-MWC duo of Duncan and junior Katariina Tuohimaa will team up at this event for the first time this fall, while Alexander will be joined by junior Maria Babanova for a chance to advance in the doubles bracket.
