
TCU women's tennis nabs top spots in regional rankings

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Members of the TCU women's tennis team grabbed the No. 1 rankings in singles and doubles in the ITA Southwest Regional rankings released Friday. Overall, the Horned Frogs had six ranked in singles and two doubles teams as well.Sophomore Nicole Leimbach was listed No. 1 in the region, thanks in large part to her No. 3 national preseason ranking and her singles title at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in October. Closely behind Leimbach was senior Helena Besovic at No. 3. Junior Ana Cetnik was also listed among the top 10 at ninth.
Other Horned Frogs in the singles rankings included freshman Anna Sydorska at 16th, senior Gloriann Lopez at 22nd and sophomore Andrea Morgado at 29th.
In doubles, Besovic and Sydorska were rated No. 1. The duo finished the fall with a 7-1 record and won the Wilson/ITA Southwest Regional doubles title in October. They went on to become the first doubles team in TCU history to win a main draw match in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in November.
TCU's other ranked duo consisted of Lopez and Morgado at 15th. They posted a 4-3 record together during the fall.
The first national team and individual rankings for the spring are scheduled to be released Tuesday, Jan. 10.
