Besovic falls in consolation semis in ITA National Indoors

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Helena Besovic from the TCU women's tennis team won her first match Saturday before falling in the semis of the consolation draw in Columbus, Ohio, in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships. Besovic was the Horned Frogs' lone competitor left in the tournament, ending the fall season for TCU.
Besovic, ranked 21st, was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over No. 15 Kim Coventry of Kentucky in the quarterfinals. Anne Yelsey from Stanford, who is ranked 26th, dropped Besovic in the semis in straight sets 6-2, 7-5. Besovic ended the fall with a 7-4 record in singles play.
TCU opens the spring season with a home dual match Saturday, Jan. 28, versus North Texas at noon CST on the indoor courts at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
