TCU gives strong second-day showing in ITA Regional

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The TCU women's tennis team gave a strong second-day showing in College Station, Texas, on Saturday in the Wilson/ITA Southwest Regional Championships. The Horned Frogs went 5-0 in singles play and 2-0 in doubles matches.
Helena Besovic, ranked 21st in the nation, was a 6-1, 6-4 winner against Anete Rozkalne from Texas-Arlington. Ana Cetnik, rated No. 116, defeated Rice's Alanna Rogers by the same scores and Gloriann Lopez cruised by Iva Kelkovska of Southeast Louisiana 6-4, 6-0. Andrea Morgado came back to upend SMU's Jennifer Chay 2-6, 6-1, 7-6(5), while Anna Sydorska did the same versus Loli Gomez of Houston 2-6, 6-0, 6-2.
In doubles action, Besovic and Sydorska posted an 8-4 decision over Carina Bjornstrom and Hedvig Lofdahl of Tulane. Lopez and Morgado ousted Houston's Brianna Bateup and Gomez by an 8-5 count.
"I thought today was one of the best days I've had at TCU," head coach Dave Borelli said. "We played so well and to win all those matches in a 64 draw is pretty good. I thought the doubles win over Tulane was great. We have some tough matches tomorrow."
Round of 32 singles and round of 16 doubles play begins at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center on Sunday.
