
TCU women's tennis ready for ITA Southwest Regional

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Five members of the TCU women's tennis team will compete in the Wilson/ITA Southwest Regional Championships, which take place over Oct. 21-25 in College Station, Texas. Helena Besovic, Ana Cetnik, Gloriann Lopez, Andrea Morgado and Anna Sydorska will represent the Horned Frogs at the event.The quintet will begin singles competition in the 64-player main draw Saturday. Besovic and Sydorska will team up for doubles, as will Lopez and Morgado. The doubles draw consists of 64 teams with play beginning Friday.
Besovic, who is ranked 21st in the country and seeded third for the tournament, is scheduled to face Anete Rozkalne from Texas-Arlington in the first round. Cetnik, ranked 116th and seeded 11th, takes on Alanna Rogers of Rice, while Morgado faces SMU's Jennifer Chay. Lopez will play Iva Velkovska of Southeast Louisiana and Sydorska squares off against Houston's Loli Gomez.
The duo of Besovic and Sydorska is seeded No. 13 and will face Ashley Ellis and Sumarie Muller from Texas State. Lopez and Morgado match-up with SMU's 11th-seeded tandem of Natalie Bubien and Svetlana Kouzmenko.
The singles finalists and doubles champion from the ITA Southwest Regional earn spots in the Nov. 3-6 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships hosted by Ohio State. The ITA Indoors are the second of three grand slam events in collegiate tennis. TCU's Nicole Leimbach won the first slam, the Riviera/ITA All-American Championship, earlier this month.
