FORT WORTH, Texas - The Frogs struggled in their first home match of the 2000 season, falling to Texas Tech 3-0 Tuesday night at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
After falling behind 6-1 in game one, Texas Tech head coach Jeff Nelson called a time out to rally his team. The Red Raiders answered with a 6-1 run of their own, tying the game at 7-7. The Frogs played Tech close for the remainder of game one but fell, 15-13.
Texas Tech, who won last season's match 3-0, went on to win the next two games, 15-3 and 15-8 to take the only match between the two teams this season. Tech was led by sophomore outside hitter Ann Romjue who had 17 kills and 12 digs. Marci King led TCU with 14 kills.
We had two real positive come out of tonight's games, said head coach Sandy Troudt. We got to see what Tori Barlow could do as a setter and I got a very positive reaction from the team after the game.
Barlow replaced Lindsay Hayes at the setter postion in game three to give Hayes some rest after she played all 14 games last weekend in Miami and Tuesday afternoon had her nose repostioned after breaking it over a week ago.
TCU hits the road for the second consecuitve week to compete in the Tiger Invitational hosted by the Universtiy of Missouri. The Frogs play Arkansas State and Missouri on Friday, and Marquette and Morgan State on Saturday.
