California native began career at Ole Miss
FORT WORTH – TCU men's basketball signed guard Gavin Murphy as its latest newcomer for the 2026-27 season.
Murphy was named All-Region 16 last season at State Fair Community College after averaging 10.8 points per game. The Calabasas, Calif. native shot 50 percent from the floor, 48.4 percent from 3-point range and 87.0 percent from the free throw line.
Murphy's best output came in the final game last season when he scored 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting from 3-point range against Three Rivers College.
In the 2024-25 season, Murphy averaged 4.2 points and shot 50 percent from 3-point range as a freshman at Eastern Florida State College. He scored a season-high 20 points on 4-of-8 shooting from three against Prestige Worldwide Sports Academy.
Out of high school, Murphy signed with Ole Miss and was on the Rebels' roster as a freshman in 2023-24. He finished at Calabasas High School ranked fourth all-time in scoring with 1,404 points. He was also the first in Calabasas history to hit 100 3-pointers and have 100 assists.
Murphy joins recent signees Luke Bamgboye, Ryan Hunt, Gavin Sykes, Trent Lincoln, Miloš Šojić and DJ Thomas as newcomers for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
