
Frogs Fall to No. 14 Kansas, 78-73

Punch has 24 points and 10 rebounds
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – David Punch recorded a double-double for the second-straight game, but it wasn't enough as No. 6 seed TCU fell to No. 3 seed and 14th ranked Kansas, 78-73, in the quarterfinals of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament.
The sophomore forward had 24 points and 10 rebounds. He was one of the few Horned Frogs that avoided foul trouble. His frontcourt teammate Xavier Edmonds picked up his third foul early in the second half and his fourth foul with 10 minutes to play. Micah Robinson and Tanner Toolson also committed four fouls.
The Horned Frogs (22-11) were whistled for 23 fouls while the Jayhawks (23-9) committed 13. KU made the most of its time at the free throw line, going 30-of-37 for 81.1 percent. Darryn Peterson made 13-of-16 from the line on his way to a team-high 24 points for the Jayhawks. TCU was 14-of-18 for 77.8 percent from the free throw line.
TCU led 61-59 with 6:29 to play following two free throws by Punch, who was 7-of-9. Peterson hit two free throws on KU's next possession and TCU never regained the lead.
The Horned Frogs had chances in the final five minutes but committed four turnovers in the final 4:20 of the game.
Liutauras Lelevicius came off the bench to score 14 points and grabbed a season-high eight rebounds. Jayden Pierre made three 3-pointers to score 11 points.
The Frogs will know where they will go for their fourth NCAA Tournament in five seasons on Sunday via the selection show which starts at 5 p.m. on CBS.
