Is TCU Athletics’ highest professional draft pick in the modern era
NEW YORK CITY – TCU women's basketball standout Olivia Miles was selected with the No. 2 overall pick by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2026 WNBA Draft at The Shed at Hudson Yards in New York City.
Miles is the Horned Frogs' highest WNBA Draft pick and joins Sandora Irvin (2004) and Hailey Van Lith (2025) as one of three first-rounders the program has produced.
She is also the second-highest professional draft pick TCU Athletics has ever produced in any sport and highest in the modern era. Miles is the first TCU student-athlete to be chosen No. 1 or No. 2 overall in his or her respective draft since Charles "Ki" Aldrich of TCU football was tabbed with the top pick in the 1939 NFL Draft.
The Phillipsburg, New Jersey native was the second college player come off the board and first from the Big 12 Conference on Monday.
Miles put a bow on a decorated five-year college career by guiding the Horned Frogs to a second consecutive undisputed Big 12 regular season championship and repeat run to the NCAA Elite Eight. TCU capped the 2025-26 campaign with a 32-6 overall record and in possession of the No. 6 ranking in the final Associated Press poll, tied for the best year-end national ranking in program history.
The 5-10 guard averaged a career-high 19.6 points per game along with 7.2 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.8 steals per night in her sole season in Fort Worth. Miles also connected at a career-best 48 percent clip from the field in TCU and head coach Mark Campbell's spread pick-n-roll offense.
She graduated as the first player in NCAA history to average at least 19 points, seven rebounds, six assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting at least 45 percent from the field in a single season. Across her run at TCU and Notre Dame, Miles accumulated 2,174 points, 906 assists, 878 rebounds and 239 steals, becoming the first college player to post the stat line.
Miles was a record-setter from the moment she touched down in Texas.
She swept Big 12 Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year accolades, joining Van Lith as one of only two players in league history to win both awards in the same season. Miles became only the second TCU player to earn first team All-American honors after receiving the recognition from The Athletic and was tabbed an All-American by every major outlet, including The Associated Press, USA Today Sports, Women's Basketball Coaches Association and Wooden Award. She additionally was a top-five finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award, given annually to the nation's top point guard, and a semifinalist for the Naismith Trophy.
Miles holds the TCU women's basketball single-season records for points (744), field goals made (268), assists (252) and assist per game average (6.6). Her 906 career assists rank 16th on the NCAA all-time record book.
She will graduate from TCU in May with her Master of Liberal Arts degree. Miles completed her bachelor of science degree in political science at Notre Dame in 2024 and followed up with a master's degree in nonprofit administration the following year. She was honored as the 2024-25 ACC Kay Yow Scholar Athlete of the Year.
