Horned Frogs win streak snapped
FORT WORTH – In a match that lasted over four hours, the 19th-ranked TCU women's tennis team came up just short against Kansas, dropping the match 4-3 on Friday night at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
TCU (10-2, 4-1 Big 12) fell behind early after dropping the doubles point and was unable to complete the comeback after falling behind 3-0 during singles play. After pushing the match to 3-3 apiece, Kansas earned a victory on court six of singles to take the match with a 4-3 score.
Coming into this weekend, TCU had a 10-1 record to go along with its undefeated start to the conference slate. Three of those triumphs came against teams slotted in the ITA rankings, including a win over No. 6 Arizona State to open Big 12 play. In those 10 victories, nine of those have come by way of a 4-0 ledger.
DOUBLES RUNDOWN
TCU showed resilience in doubles play but unfortunately came up just short to the Jayhawks and dropped the early advantage.
Meriem Ben Ezzedine and Kyoka Kubo were the first pairing to finish, as the two defeated Raquel Caballero Chica and Cristina Ramos Sierra on court three, 6-4.
The other two doubles courts would finish simultaneously, with the edge going to the Jayhawks. First, Tomi Main and Cayetana Gay would continue to find success, this time on court two by taking down, Heike Jansen van Vuuren and Meg McCarty by a score of 6-4.
At the same instant, Kansas would clinch the doubles point at the top court, with Yerkezhan Arystanbekova and Anna Putilina getting the win against Letizia Corsini and Victoria Gomez O'Hayon by way of a 6-2 result.

Singles saw two major momentum shifts that prolonged the match down to the final court. After a pair of courts were quickly won for Kansas, TCU stormed back to take three straight wins and send the match to a winner-take-all moment on court six.
The Jayhawks picked up their wins early on against Caballero Chica and Gomez O'Hayon to put TCU's back against the wall.
The Frogs would begin to chip away at the deficit, as Main would defeat Meg McCarty, 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 to put TCU on the board.
Next, Gay would topple Ben Ezzedine by way of a 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 ledger to make the match interesting and increase TCU's then glimmer of hope.
