COLLEGE STATION, Texas – TCU cross country returns to action for the final time in the regular season, competing at the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Friday, Oct. 16, at the Watts Cross Country Course.
The Horned Frogs will compete against another deep field that includes host Texas A&M, Texas, Texas Tech, Ohio State, Stephen F. Austin, UT Arlington, UTSA, Louisiana and several other programs from across the country. The men's 8K is slated to begin at 8:15 a.m. CT with the women's 6K to follow at 8:50 a.m.
TCU returns to the course after nearly three weeks away from competition. The Frogs last raced at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, where the men placed seventh, and the women finished ninth against their toughest field of the season.
Kowa has been at the front of the pack for TCU all season. The senior has led the Frogs in each of their first three meets. Freshmen Armando Morales and Anthony Morales have also looked strong, making an immediate impact in their first collegiate season.
On the women's side, Gonzales has also been TCU's top finisher in all three races this season. Georgia Scott has followed her across the line in each of the last two meets, including a 54th place finish at the Cowboy Jamboree in 21:52.4.
It marks TCU's second trip to College Station this season. The Frogs competed at the Texas A&M Invitational on Sept. 11, where the men took third, and the women finished fifth. The trip also gives TCU another opportunity to race the Watts Cross Country Course again before the NCAA South Central Regional on Nov. 13.
Friday's meet serves as TCU's final tune-up before postseason racing begins at the Big 12 Championships on Oct. 31 in Stillwater.
