STILLWATER, Okla. – Coming off a two-week break from competition, TCU cross country returns to action Saturday, Sept. 26, at the 88th annual Cowboy Jamboree at the Greiner Family Cross Country Course.
The Horned Frogs will face their toughest field of the season to date in Stillwater as well as get a preview of the Big 12 Championship course as Oklahoma State will host the conference championship race this season. The men's race features four nationally ranked teams in No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 2 New Mexico, No. 5 Oregon and No. 21 Tulsa. On the women's side, No. 2 New Mexico, No. 3 BYU and No. 15 Oklahoma State headline the field.
The Horned Frogs last competed at the Texas A&M Invitational earlier this month. The men placed third and the women finished fifth in that meet. Mohamed Kowa led the men's squad for the second consecutive meet, finishing ninth overall in 24:28.7. Freshman Anthony Morales continued his strong start to the season with a 13th-place finish, while Zach Troutman and CJ Meyer followed in 14th and 15th, respectively. TCU placed all five scorers inside the top 21.
On the women's side, Chachi Gonzales paced the Frogs for the second straight race, placing 15th with a time of 17:52.0. Georgia Scott and Kate Selover also finished inside the top 21 as all five TCU scorers improved their 5K times from the season opener. Scott dropped nearly a minute, while Selover improved her season best by more than 53 seconds.
It marks the second straight year TCU will compete at the Cowboy Jamboree. Last season, Kowa led the men with a 24th-place finish in the 8K, while Gonzales paced the women with a 36th-place showing.
