Kowa and Gonzales Lead Cross Country at Cowboy Jamboree

STILLWATER, Okla. – TCU cross country wrapped up competition at the 88th annual Cowboy Jamboree with a pair of top 10 team finishes on Saturday morning at the Greiner Family Cross Country Course.
The Horned Frog men finished seventh overall while the women placed ninth in their toughest field of the season to date. Racing against multiple top ranked programs, Mohamed Kowa paced the men's team for the third straight meet. The senior finished 32nd overall in the 8K with a time of 24:44.0.
CJ Meyer was the second Frog across the line for the men, placing 42nd in 24:58.1 to give TCU a pair of runners under 25 minutes. Freshmen twins Armando Morales and Anthony Morales continued their strong starts to the season, finishing 62nd and 68th, respectively. Armando clocked a 25:24.5 while Anthony crossed the line in 25:32.1. Drew Oliver rounded out TCU's scoring five in 77th with a time of 25:43.6. The Frogs totaled 225 points to finish seventh in the 20-team field.
On the women's side, Chachi Gonzales led the Frogs for the third consecutive meet. Racing in the first 6K of the season, Gonzales finished 37th overall with a time of 21:27.7, and Georgia Scott followed in 54th (21:52.4). Josey Whitaker was TCU's third finisher, placing 74th in 22:29.0. Camryn Kirkland followed four spots later in 22:31.7, while Megan Calhoun rounded out the scoring five with a time of 22:44.6. to help the Frogs place ninth with 252 points.
TCU is back on the course in College Station for the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Oct. 16.
