Horned Frogs roll to 36th straight home win behind sticky defense
FORT WORTH – No. 13 TCU and Arizona State arrived at Schollmaier Arena on Sunday with near-identical records but that's where the similarities ended.
The Horned Frogs bulldozed the Sun Devils 77-46 before an announced crowd of 4,021 fans – the largest to date in the 2025-26 campaign.
TCU held Arizona State to its lowest scoring output of the season and worst field goal percentage (.288, 17-59) in a game it led by double figures for more than 25 minutes. The Sun Devils' 46 points scored were the third-fewest allowed by TCU in a Big 12 game under head coach Mark Campbell.
The Horned Frogs (16-1, 4-1 Big 12) ripped off 17-5 run over the final seven minutes of the first half to take a 35-20 lead into the locker room. A 7-0 spurt early in the third swelled TCU's advantage to 48-25 and effectively ended the game. TCU doubled up the Sun Devils (16-2, 4-2 Big 12) 22-11 in the fourth quarter.
TCU extended its home winning streak to 36 games – one victory shy of matching No. 2 Texas for the longest streak in the nation. Over the course of the Frogs' unbeaten run at home, 30 of their wins have come by double figures.
The Horned Frogs connected at a 55 percent clip (31-56) from the field, knocked down nine 3-pointers and finished with 18 assists. Seven of the 10 players who saw action scored at least five points to fuel a balanced offensive onslaught.
Olivia Miles paired a game-high 22 points and six assists with five rebounds. Miles scored 17 of her points in the second half, including 10 in the third quarter alone as the Frogs blew the game open.
Clara Silva delivered a 12-rebound, 10-point double-double – her fourth of the season – and led all players on the glass.
Donovyn Hunter gave TCU three double-digits scorers as the junior guard finished with 10 points.
Maddie Scherr (nine points) and Taylor Bigby (eight points) were responsible for five of TCU's makes from distance.
ASU took its first and only lead at 13-12 with under 1:00 to go in the first. Hunter beat the buzzer with a driving layup and put the Frogs permanently ahead.
All three of Scherr's 3-pointers came in the first half. The senior sparked a string of 11 unanswered points midway through the second with a pair of deep balls. Her second 3-pointer arrived with 5:09 remaining in the half and inched TCU further in front 26-15. TCU led by double digits the rest of the way.
ASU managed just seven field goals in the first half while TCU shot 55 percent (15-27).
Behind Silva, TCU nearly netted as many points in the paint as the Sun Devils had alone. The Frogs racked up 42 points inside compared to just 16 for ASU.
The Horned Frogs scored the first seven points in the fourth. Miles' connected from deep with 3:21 to go and gave TCU its first 30-point advantage at 72-40. Seven Frogs got on the scoreboard in the final frame.
Bigby topped all TCU reserves with eight points while Veronica Sheffey added five.
ASU was led by 19 points from Gabby Elliott.
