TCU set to open fall slate in the Golden State
FORT WORTH – The TCU women's tennis team will begin its 2025 fall campaign on Thursday, as six individuals are set to take part in the Battle in the Bay Classic at the California Tennis Club.
The five individuals taking their talents to the Bay Area will be Raquel Caballero Chica, Maya Dutta, Yu-Chin Tsai, Letizia Corsini and Cristina Ramos Sierra.
After bringing in the largest signing class in school history, three of the individuals representing TCU this week will see their first action as Horned Frogs. Dutta, Corsini and Ramos Sierra are newcomers on this year's squad who will make their TCU debuts.
Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Pepperdine, Sac State, San Jose State, UC San Diego, UCLA, UCSB, USC and Washington State are the other programs who will be taking part in the tournament over the coming days.
This year marks the third straight season in which TCU will compete in the Battle in the Bay Classic. Last year, the All-American doubles pairing of Jade Otway and Isabel Pascual made it to the doubles final at the Battle in the Bay classic, where they eventually fell to a doubles team from Oklahoma State.
Two doubles tandems will compete in the early portions of tomorrow morning, as Tsai and Corsini will compete at 10 a.m. PT and Caballero Chica and Dutta are set to commence action at 11 a.m. Later in the day, Dutta (1 p.m.), Ramos Sierra (1 p.m.), Tsai (3 p.m.), Corsini (4 p.m.) and Caballero Chica (5:30 p.m.) will open singles round of 32 action against their respective opponents.
The singles women's singles champion this weekend will earn an automatic wild card bid to a WTA Tournament along the west coast in the coming months.

Friday, Sept. 12 – Quarterfinal doubles, followed by singles RD16 and quarterfinals
Saturday, Sept. 13 – Semifinal singles and doubles
Sunday, Sept. 14 – Singles and doubles championships

Scoring Format
All doubles matches are scored as 8-point pro sets with a 7-point tiebreaker in effect if tied at 7-all. Singles main draw and consolation matches are traditional best-of-three affairs.
