Hillinger fires career-high 599 in air rifle
OXFORD, Miss. – The No. 5 TCU women's rifle team finished first in its matchup against No. 6 Ole Miss and No. 7 Murray State, posting a 4,740 aggregate featuring a 2,350 in smallbore and a 2,390 in air rifle.
The Horned Frogs saw five shooters finish in the top 10 aggregate marks. Katie Zaun led all shooters, firing a season-high 1,194. Mikole Hogan placed third with a 1,186 aggregate. Rylie Passmore, Micah Hames and Christina Hillinger each posted a 1,178 aggregate to finish inside the top 10.
Zaun paced the team in smallbore, shooting a career high 596 for the third time in her career and first time this season. She followed with a 598 in air rifle, securing a top five finish in both disciplines.
Hogan fired a 588 in smallbore to place sixth overall. Passmore and Marissa Fedora each recorded a 583. Hillinger rounded out the counters with a 579 in the discipline. While not factoring in the team score, Hames fired a 583.
Hillinger led the team in air rifle, firing a near-perfect 599, setting a career high and tying for the top mark in the match. She was followed by Zaun and Hogan, who each fired 598 to finish fourth and fifth individually. Passmore and Hames each fired a 595 while Fedora shot a 592.
Murray State finished second with a 4,725 aggregate, followed by Ole Miss in third with a 4,724.
TCU returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 20, when it hosts Air Force in Fort Worth.
