
Frogs Fires Strong Score at VMI

TCU turns in top smallbore score of the season.
CENTREVILLE, Va. -- The No. 5 TCU women's rifle team posted an aggregate score of 4,733 to finish first in Saturday's match at VMI. The Horned Frogs led in both disciplines, posting a season-high 2,353 in smallbore and a 2,380 in air rifle.
TCU dominated the leaderboard, securing the top eight marks across all disciplines. Katie Zaun led the match with an aggregate score of 1,190, followed by Christina Hillinger (1,185) and Mikole Hogan (1,182).
In smallbore, Zaun secured first place with a 592, while Hillinger posted a career-best 589 to finish second. Hogan contributed a 588 to secure third while Rylie Passmore placed sixth with a 584.
Not factoring into the final score, Anne White fired a season-high 585, the fourth-best mark of the match, while Marissa Fedora and Micah Hames each recorded a 584.
The Horned Frogs maintained their momentum in air rifle, with Zaun once again leading the way, shooting a 598. Hillinger followed in second place with a 596, while Hogan's 594 was fourth. Passmore rounded out the top five with a 592.
Several strong performances did not factor into the final tally, including Ziva Swick's 595, the fourth-best score of the match, along with Hames (592), White (591) and Fedora (588).
VMI finished second overall with an aggregate of 4,561, while VMI's women's team recorded 4,561. Ryan Harlow led the VMI mixed team with an aggregate of 1,160, shooting 576 in smallbore and 584 in air rifle. Adrianna Sanders paced the women's team.
TCU will next head to Fort Wayne, Ind. for the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships. The Frogs will be chasing their third straight PRC title. The match is set to take place over two days with the smallbore competition coming on Saturday, Feb. 8. The match concludes on Sunday with air rifle.
