TCU Faces Two Top 10 Teams in Oxford
FORT WORTH – The No. 5 TCU women's rifle team travels to Oxford, Miss. Saturday for a matchup against No. 2 Ole Miss and Murray State. The Horned Frogs are coming off a third-place finish at the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships. TCU posted a 4,732 aggregate at the PRCs, after shooting a 2,345 in smallbore and 2,387 in air rifle.
Making the trip to the compete are Marissa Fedora, Micah Hames, Christina Hillinger, Mikole Hogan, Rylie Passmore, and Katie Zaun.
Zaun led the Frogs at the PRC's finishing third individually in both smallbore (592) and air rifle (598). Passmore also made her finals debut, placing eighth in air rifle with a career-high 597.
Hillinger recorded a 597 in air rifle, matching Passmore for the team's second highest mark in the discipline. Hogan fired a 587 in smallbore and 595 in air rifle, while Hames shot a 585 in smallbore and added a 595 in air rifle.
TCU sits fifth nationally in aggregate average at 4,725.45, fifth in air rifle average (2,380.27) and sixth in smallbore (2,345.18).
Zaun leads TCU in all disciplines, ranking No. 2 nationally in aggregate (1,191.50), No. 4 in smallbore (591.09), and No. 3 in air rifle (597.08), followed by Hogan at No. 26 in aggregate (1,180.64), No. 21 in smallbore (586.55), and No. 37 in air rifle (594.09).
Hames, Hillinger, and Passmore are all ranked in the top 50 nationally. Hillinger ranks No. 42 in aggregate (1,176.54) and No. 32 in air rifle (594.55). Hames sits at No. 46 in air rifle (593.25). Passmore is the top 50 for aggregate (1,176.56) and smallbore (583.20), while sitting No. 43 in air rifle (593.36).
Ole Miss enters the match after finishing second at the PRC Championships with a 4,746 aggregate. The Rebels are led by Audrey Gogniat, who leads the nation in aggregate (1,191.50), smallbore (592.75), and air rifle (598.75).
Murray State's top performer is Carlotta Salafia, who ranks No. 17 in aggregate (1,182.78) and No. 19 in air rifle (586.89). John Blanton leads the Racers in smallbore, ranking No. 15 nationally (587.00).
