
TCU Set For Top-5 Battle At Georgia Southern

TCU enters weekend ranked third and Georgia Southen fifth
FORT WORTH – The TCU rifle team is set to head to Georgia Southern for a top-5 battle Saturday morning. The Horned Frogs enter the week ranked No. 3 while the Eagles sit at No. 5. Also making the trek to Statesboro will be No. 13 ranked Akron.
The Frogs lineup will feature eight shooters. Making the trek will be Marissa Fedora, Micah Hames, Christina Hillinger, Mikole Hogan, Mackenzie Kring, Rylie Passmore, Alexandra Rosenlew and Katie Zaun.
Both TCU and Georgia Southern have competed in one match this season, while Akron is kicking off its campaign on Saturday. The Frogs own the second-best aggregate score this season after shooting at 4,727 at Navy. Georgia Southern has fired the third-best mark with a 4,724 at Ohio State. Last week, TCU shot a 2,339 in smallbore and a 2,388 in air rifle.
Fedora had a career day to open the season, shooting a team-best 591 in smallbore and matching her career-high with a 596 in air rifle. She is the only shooter in the country to eclipse the 590 mark in smallbore.
Zaun turned in a third place finish at Navy, shooting a 585 in smallbore and a team-best 598 mark in air rifle. Passmore fired a 583 in smallbore and a 597 in air rifle to finish five. Hogan rounded out the shooters that counted in both disciplines with an eighth place finish.
Hillinger served as a counter in smallbore and shot a 580. In her collegiate debut, Kring served as a counter in air rifle, shooting a 597. Hames finished 10th among all shooters with an aggregate of 1,164. Rosenlew, also making her collegiate debut, was limited to air rifle where she fired a 595.
Georgia Southern shooters produced six of the top 10 aggregate marks at Ohio State in its season-opener. Emme Walrath led the Eagles in both disciplines, shooting a 589 in smallbore and a 598 in air rifle.
Akron returns seven shooters from last year's squad. Natalia Siek is the team's top returning aggregate shooter, posting a season average of 1,170. She is also the top returning smallbore shooter with a season average of 582 and air rifle shooter with an average of 588.
