Frogs face No. 17 Michigan State on Sunday for berth in ITA Indoor National Championships
FORT WORTH – The Horned Frogs got exactly what they wanted out of the opening round of ITA Kickoff Weekend on Saturday.
A comfortable 4-0 shutout over Pacific and a match for all 10 players on the roster.
No. 2 TCU claimed the doubles point via a pair of 6-4 decisions on courts two and three. The Frogs earned singles sweeps at two, four and five to put a bow on the clinch-clinch affair.
The Horned Frogs (4-0) face No. 17 Michigan State at 2 p.m. on Sunday, with the winner qualifying for the ITA Indoor National Championships. The Spartans (4-0) defeated Liberty, 4-0, to set up the Fort Worth Regional final.
TCU has now won 14 consecutive Kickoff Weekend duals – all shutouts – dating back to the 2017-18 season. The Frogs combined individual match record in that span stands at 53-0. TCU has served as a regional host for 10 consecutive seasons
Saturday's result extended TCU's home indoor winning streak to 17 matches. TCU improved to 36-5 on the indoor courts since 2018.
Doubles Rundown
TCU tweaked the top of the lineup from its last two duals, opting to rest NCAA doubles champion Lui Maxted. In turn, Jack Pinnington and Cooper Woestendick were elevated to the top court. Pedro Vives, Maxted's usual doubles partner and part two of the nation's No. 2 ranked team, slotted down to the second position with Kaj Quirijns. The Frogs entered Duncan Chan and Albert Pedrico on court three for the third straight affair.
Chan and Pedrico broke on the first game of the afternoon and subsequently served out a 6-4 decision vs. Jonty Giesen and Christof Schaertlin Coffey.
Vives and Quirijns snapped a 1-1 tie with Terence Das and Tiago Silva with a break of their own to create a clear pathway to the doubles point. The tandem did not afford Pacific a break point opportunity.
Pinnington and Woestendick trailed Ran Amar and Justas Trainauskas, 5-6, but were on serve at the time of the clinch. The teams alternated break points midway through the set.
Chan and Pedrico won their fourth match in as many outings. Chan leads TCU in doubles victories in 2024-25 with 18.
Vives earned his 150th combined career victory. He and Quirijns partnered for the second time in their two shared years on the purple courts.
TCU moved to 4-0 in doubles play this season and 25-3 over the last three years.

Singles Rundown
Filip Apltauer stretched TCU's lead to 2-0 with an efficient 6-1, 6-0 victory at the expense of Das on court four. He built a double break in both sets. Apltauer's second set clincher as the first bagel in his college career.
The most significant moment, though, transpired on court two. Woestendick, a member of TCU's No. 1 ranked 2025 recruiting class who enrolled early in January, made his collegiate singles debut.
Facing off with Amar, the freshman built commanding 5-1 leads in both sets on his way to a 7-5, 6-3 win. He notched five breaks and claimed every possible deuce point.
Woestendick picked up the match-clincher. Shortly before polishing off the shutout, freshman Roger Pascual worked past Vraj Patel via a 6-3, 7-5 margin in the fifth position.
Maxted, No. 12 in the ITA singles rankings, and Pedrico lined up at one and three. Maxted was gridlocked with Silva, 6-3, 3-6, 2-2 in a battle of ranked players. He downed the 63rd-ranked Silva in the opening round of the NCAA Individual Championships in November.
TCU rested All-Americans Pinnington and Vives in anticipation of Sunday's bout vs. the Spartans. Pinnington will battle preseason ITA No. 1 Ozan Baris while Vives' assignment is no. 27 Aristotelis Thanos.
