TCU Suffers First Loss of 2024

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The No. 13 TCU women's soccer team suffered its first defeat of 2024 as the Horned Frogs fell at No. 14 Notre Dame, 4-0, at Alumni Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Rundown
Despite TCU controlling much of the possession in the first half, it was the Fighting Irish that went into the break with a 2-0 lead. TCU had the game's first good look of the game as Bella Diorio headed a ball on goal in the 10th minute that was corralled by the Notre Dame keeper.
Minutes later, Izzy Engle put the Irish ahead as she broke free from the Horned Frog defense and delivered a rocket from distance just inside the near post in the 14th minute.
In the 41st minute, Notre Dame stretched its lead when Lily Joseph's shot deflected in off a TCU defender for a 2-0 lead.
Notre Dame added two more goals in the second half. Engle scored her second goal of the contest in the 47th minute to make it 3-0, Notre Dame. The Irish converted a penalty kick in the 84th minute to account for the final score.
TCU did not go quietly in the second half, taking six shots and forcing a pair of saves. Camryn Lancaster had the half's best look, but her shot from distance ricocheted off the crossbar.

• Head Coach Eric Bell coached his 250th game for TCU.
• TCU was outshot for the first time this season (12-11).
• TCU gave up more than two goals for just the 16th time since 2015.
• TCU allowed four goals for the first time since a 4-2 loss at Texas in 2023.
• Sara Brocious, Bella Diorio and Caroline Kelly each tallied two shots.
• Megan Plaschko tallied four saves in the game, matching her TCU career high.
